Description
The decorative tile The Princess on the Pea, made by Fairytiles draws inspiration from the fairy tale of the same name.
In this version we see a moment of cautious silence, the moment when the bud of the breakthrough is sown in the form of a tiny vegetable. The storm in which the princess has fallen seems to have subsided.
The prince, masked to conceal his identity (like a true Venetian prankster), is persuaded by the wise queen mother to test the sensitivity of the supposedly unfortunate royal. He has just placed the candle on the ground and is about to lay the seed between the mattresses covered in colourful, precious fabrics. Suddenly, a gust of wind blows a glass window open, transparent as translucent enamel.
The gust swells the precious curtains of the very high four-poster bed, moves the princess’ braid and makes the unmistakable Murano glass chandelier swing under the prince’s wide-eyed gaze.
A moonbeam caresses the noblewoman’s marble face: the young prince is now fascinated by her fine features.
The pair of tiles contains three clues linked to the well-known fairy tale. The pea flower depicted in the stained-glass windows, two pods in symmetry at the top of the canopy and the prince clutching the little green sphere, the architect of his destiny, between his fingers.

First firing of the biscuit in the kiln, drawing of the design in pencil, application of the glaze by hand using the saving technique.
