Description

The Zanni Mask is made by Mater Domini Masks, entirely in handmade papier-mâché, present in gold leaf and Venetian colors.

The name Zanni is the Venetian version of the name Gianni, a common name for servants for rich merchants and Venetian nobles. For this reason the Venetian mask, was identified with the figure of the servants.

The character is mainly known because he was impersonated by Brighella, Arlecchino and Pulcinella in the Commedia dell’Arte.
