Description
The Harlequin mask, has Bergamo origins and was born in the mid-sixteenth century. It soon became the Venetian mask par excellence.
Carlo Goldoni transformed Harlequin, in his comedy “Harlequin servant of two masters”, from a silly servant to a clever, cunning, mischievous and winning figure. He has an extravagant, sympathetic character and invents pranks at the expense of greedy and arrogant masters.
Today he is considered one of the most popular and well-known masks in the world.
