Description
Raffaello e l’eco del mito, published by Marsilio, is the catalog for the exhibition (Bergamo, January 17-May 6, 2018).
The exhibition stems from the presence in the Carrara Academy of Raphael’s Saint Sebastian, the most famous work in the entire picture gallery. Around the masterpiece is built an exhibition that investigates the formation of the artist and his precocious capacity for innovation: declared magister already at the age of 17.
The exhibition catalog contains essays signed by well-known scholars who investigate the history of the painting, with in-depth studies on the artist’s training and his fortune in the 19th century and with a look at the contemporary period. Each work is the subject of a scientific card and inserted in one of the seven thematic sections that reflect the exhibition itinerary.
