1 cutting board by Humi lab
The project of the maltagliati cutting boards was born a bit for fun and a bit by chance. I am not a sculptor and I do not know the practice of wood carving so I decided to take them to a carpenter and have them cut into regular sections. The trunk of the olive tree is often twisted and hollow this means that its fiber is tormented and irregular and that’s why the maltagliati cutting boards are born from the randomness of the individual sections. My cut marks the cracks and irregularities of the wood. The shape of the cutting boards comes from the nature of wood. All cutting boards have an irregular shape but with common characteristics. Each cut has five angles and from the sharpest angle you can trace a bisector on which a hole of 2 cm in diameter is made. Even when you decide to hang them they fall crooked, so they could also be called “malappesi”.
