Description
Aldo Manuzio (Aldus Pius Manutius) was a humanist and publisher who revolutionised the world of printing and is considered the father of the modern paperback. In Venice in campo Sant’Agostin he founded a printing house in 1494, before moving to San Paterniàn in 1506 (now campo Manin). Currently near campo Sant’Agostino, in an elegant building, two stone plaques commemorate Aldo Manuzio’s first printing house.
In Search of Aldus Pius Manutius a campo Sant’Agostin examines the evidence and challenges the location of this attribution. The author provides historical data to identify the true location.
